This is an interesting read. As is my normal habit, I tend to listen to the radio while doing housework, cooking etc. Today is no exception and I've just finished listening to a programme about Andrew Gilligan. If you read this article you think;

''what a sensible well rounded individual''

delete reply hadenough1 wrote on Mar 6, '10 Interesting Almost hard for people to know the truth the truth, without incorporating the diluting influence of human philosophies and motives (like who they are trying to please and why). At the start of mankind’s history, everything was based on truth. There was no twisting of facts, no manipulation or misrepresentation of the truth. Not so anymore. The fundamental rivalry between truth and untruth, rages today. It permeates all levels of human society and affects every individual. The way a person lives often puts him on one side of the issue or the other. Greed, Pride and Selfishness, Ambition, Envy/ Desire, fear (as you say) are still very much the motives that impel many people to lie.slant etc. One can not go by just what sounds good. There is no greater treasure to be found than truth if it's faced, it liberates us from superstition, confusion, and morbid fear. It gives us hope, purpose, and joy. As the old saying goes--”You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" Enjoyed the read-Thank you

I notice the Wiki article stops in the fall of 2008 (I think); the other one goes on to more recent work by Gilligan.
