Another link about the oil

I think most people who read this will have already seen this video. its from one of the American news networks, which you see, but I don't. Words fail me... appalled, frustrated, angry........none of them cover my emotion.
One thing I would like to say..... this is not an exclusively American problem. These are OUR oceans, this is OUR world, we only have the one world and it belongs to all of us. I would like to see ALL  governments putting pressure on BP.

Let's hope that enough of us feel that way to make the switch. The technology is out there but has been buried for years by the oil companies who want to continue to make their profits. Little by little the news of the other options has been getting out any way. Let's hope this event causes the change over. That is if we don't instead have to gather those we love around us and watch it all end as we need our seas to survive ourselves.

In this case of course its BP, but any one of the all powerful, non-elected, non-accountable and completely amoral mega rich multinational companies, whose single objective is to maximise profits could, if the situation warranted, ignore all directives, requests and even orders from all governments and continue to do exactly as they please. Any one who has been naive enough to believe we live in a democracy and that our vote counts is now experiencing exactly where power actually lies, it lies with the wealth. BP has repeatedly been asked to stop using these poisonous chemical dispersant's and use other less toxic chemicals, they have repeatedly been asked how much oil is spewing into the ocean and they have lied, they appear to have power over the coast guards and dictate who can and who can't enter international waters. Just in case any one has failed to notice..............they are ignoring the American government. Maybe this is not just the environmental wake up call we need (possibly too late).....maybe it's a political wake up call as well. ok.... rant over............................

It is so heartbreaking, literally gut-wrenching, & so truly nauseating a case that people actually prefer to think about some crap like Lindsey Lohan instead. BP has been using dangerously toxic dispersants (while simultaneously adding to their profit line), possibly with the assistance of the US Coast Guard, that make the water's surface appearance "lie" about what really has been happening for a month & is continuing to happen practically unabated a mile down on the ocean floor in an area already conceded to be a "dead zone" in the Gulf due to its depth & wealth of toxic sediments the Mississippi has brought down all the way from Minnesota through thousands of miles of farm & industrial country all the way to the area around the "spill" that is more like a perpetual geyser. (or 2? or 3?) Then there is still the fiddling about over how much exactly is escaping---there were reports of three leaks at first---what happened to the other two? We see video of something. How do we really know if that is the largest leak, anyway? BP says so....I suppose that should be reason enough to doubt our own eyes. The seriousness of the leak & its location result in the obvious inability to stop it SAFELY. The gusher is so deep & the currents as they are will carry this horrible mess deep underwater far beyond little Chandeleur Island. These chocolate syrup trails & puddles are only the tiny tip of this oil iceberg. Our future is being destroyed & a substantive solution seems not to be on the immediate horizon. It is my deepest prayer that a worldwide outcry could shake things up more & more, put some real shame where it belongs, & prod some results from someone who can actually heal this gaping wound in our Mother Earth. Our politicians are making hay off one another over this catastrophe & that is also nauseating. Nobody wants to think about it for very long, & for good reasons, but I remain hopeful something can happen soon that will seal the leak, salvage what is left, & clean up the mess. I'm also now committed to whatever it takes to get our civilization off its dependence on the remains of the dinosaurs. Maybe this is their revenge on us. Ironic, isn't it?
